Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice takeout at mommy's apartment. Gotta love all the little baggies of sauces. The chicken was tender, the rice "not so fragrant," but we managed to mau it down in record time. We can do better, though, and we will!
Quick (4hr) hike from Toa Payoh to Treetop Bridge and back and we were ready for another honking din din. As you can see, Anna loves heights. She also loves dodging mischievous monkeys.
Dinner at New Ubin Restaurant on Sin Min Drive, across the street from the car repair shop. You wouldn't know it was there, but I'm glad we knew. The local crab roe were sweet delights, especially when you add the ginger chili sauce. The shell was extra meaty. I could've eaten every one and left the claws for everyone else, but alas, I am ang moh and don't dare mess with a local's choice on a dinner table. I have to say, the bamboo clams were literally flavorless to the point where I felt bad that they even killed the little suckers. Why bother. The shrimp broth was delicate, believe it or not, with all that chili on the table. I guess Singaporean's do have subtle palates. Not all the nerve endings have been sizzled off of their tongues yet.
The big kahuna of the table turned out to be the Sri Lankan crab cooked in porridge. The porridge was infused with the crab flavor and delectable. Take a gander at that claw, practically the size of a human hand. Tender meat that had the satisfaction value of a steak.
